Facebook's Transparency Center provides some interesting statistics on its efforts to combat misinformation and trolls on the social media platform. I thought it would be interesting to compare the amount of fake accounts removed by Facebook to their number of monthly active users. Note the spike in Q1 of 2019. Facebook states that "We estimate that fake accounts represented approximately 5% of our worldwide monthly active users (MAU) on Facebook during Q1 2022." Of those, Facebook says it identified 99% of them, while only a very small portion were reported by users.
